Gatherer/FAQ
Από Norganna's AddOns
From where is Gatherer available?
Gatherer's official source is http://GathererAddOn.Com/dl/ .
For user convenience, we upload Gatherer to the two most popular AddOn sites, WoWInterface and Curse.
You should be extremely wary of obtaining Gatherer from any other location.
How do you access the Gatherer options and report interface?
- Right-click the Gatherer button on the SlideBar or near the minimap or enter the following at the chat/command line interface in-game: /Gatherer
- Click the "Configure" button at the bottom of the report window frame to continue to the options window.
Why are all nodes not displayed on the zone map?
The display limit is 600 nodes per zone map. More than 600 nodes is too great a strain on the UI (although they are recycled when changing maps). By using the numerous options in the configuration, you can customize the display to a granular level.
Is it possible to merge the Gatherer data on multiple computers?
Not easily. You are more than welcome to manually merge the Gatherer.lua file from one machine to another, but we do not produce an automated tool, nor are there plans to do so.
The best thing to do is copy the Gatherer.lua from the ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWoWAccountName>\SavedVariables directory on your "primary computer" to that location on your other computer. When you have completed playing on the second machine, simply copy that file back to the "primary computer".
Note that you can also send the data to a friend, who can then send it back to you via the process outlined below.
Where are the data and settings located for World of Warcraft AddOns?
The saved data can be found in the ..\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<your account>\SavedVariables directory. The settings and data for Gatherer are maintained in the Gatherer.lua file.
All AddOn users should backup their settings and data fairly often. For details, see http://wiki.norganna.org/Backup .
Is it possible to send my data to a mate without mailing the Gatherer.lua file?
Yes, you can choose to send any number of nodes, from a single node to the entire database.
- Step 1: You BOTH need to open the data base window, simply right-click the Gatherer button on the SlideBar or the minimap button or enter /Gatherer at the command/chat line interface in-game.
- Step 2: The Sender selects the nodes they intend to send (or by pressing "Mark These").
- Step 3: The Sender enters the name of the recipient.
- Step 4: The Sender presses the "Send Selected" button.
After that, the Sender will see a box that says:
Send <number of nodes> to <friends name> ?
[yes] [no]
- Step 5: The Sender simply selects the "Yes" option, which then causes a box to appear on the Recipient's machine that asks:
<Your name> wants to send you <number of nodes>
[Accept] [Decline]
- Step 6: The Recipient selects "Accept" and will then begin receiving the selected nodes.
Is there a pre-made set of data available for download?
**Please note that the GathererDB_Wowhead will not be updated for WoW 4 until after the Cataclysm in December, when the nodes shift. Until that time, you can either collect the nodes yourself or have a fried/guildmate send them, as detailed above.**
Through a partnership with Wowhead and WoWInterface, from whom we obtain the raw data, we make available the GathererDB_Wowhead.
The database is simple to import for use with Gatherer and can be downloaded from http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11707-GathererDBWoWHead.html .
Why is there no node data pre-installed?
Gatherable material nodes are not necessarily static, so could well be changed or moved from time to time by Blizzard. Not only that, but many like the thrill of the hunt for resource nodes.
Due to those reasons, the decision has been to maintain the database separately from the "program" portion of the AddOn.
You can simply install the GathererDB_Wowhead from WoWInterface if you have lost your database or if you simply would like the most current information.
As noted on that page, you can help keep the node locations up to date. Simply run the Wowhead Client, which is available for MS Windows and OSX.
